Budapest Airport’s Copenhagen connections flourish

Initially operated twice-weekly during October, Wizz Air has already confirmed the link between the two capital cities will increase to daily by the end of the month.

Having recorded a robust 22% increase in passenger numbers by end-August, Budapest Airport continues to further expand its route network and welcomed the gateway’s third connection to Copenhagen over the weekend. Launched by Wizz Air, the 1,105-kilometre sector will be operated on the ultra-low-cost airline’s fleet of A321 Neos.

Initially operated twice-weekly during October, Wizz Air has already confirmed the link between the two capital cities will increase to daily by the end of the month. Joining established services by Norwegian and Ryanair, the ULCC will gain a 59% share of flights to Copenhagen, boosting the airport’s weekly capacity to 2,812 one-way seats.

Having recently returned to the airport, Máté Ritter, Head of Airline Development, Budapest Airport says: “It’s fantastic to be back and to once again be able to celebrate the expansion of the airport’s airline partners and witness the growth of our route network. Wizz Air’s new route offers a convenient way for our customers to discover the delights of Copenhagen and to allow more opportunities for Scandinavian travellers to witness the charm of Budapest.”
