WTTC welcomes ICAO goal for sustainable aviation fuel
WTTC in partnership with ICF has launched already a white paper, demystifying the impact and benefits of SAF for tourism destinations around the world.
Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO said: “WTTC welcomes the adoption of a new ICAO global framework for Sustainable Aviation Fuels, announced at the third Conference on Aviation and Alternative Fuels (CAAF/3) conference in Dubai, which saw 100 states agree to a 5% carbon intensity reduction by 2030.
“This important agreement is critical to delivering ICAO’s Long Term Aspirational Goal of net zero carbon emission by 2050.
“Earlier this year, WTTC released its report on SAF calling on governments to take decisive action to unlock the full potential of a global SAF market by focusing on urgently increasing production.
“This is not solely an aviation challenge. Governments, SAF producers, investors and all stakeholders need to collaborate to accelerate the development and adoption of SAF, to ensure a more sustainable and resilient sector.”
